It was a great way to get out of the boat before the 2011-2012 seasons training begins. I stayed at Martina's place in North Holland, in a small town called Schoorl, right by the dunes that keep the water out of the Netherlands!
It's near Alkmaar which is the home of cheese - a lot of cheese, and food in slots, and bikes and bikes and bikes...

We checked out a few windmills too
From Netherlands - it was time to get back in the boat and straight onto the Olympic course in the Lee Valley in London. I was fired up to get paddling again, because it meant 2 weeks till I was back in NZ! And I was fired up to get there.
The training was hard, but really amazing to get to paddle 2 times per day on such an epic course. In between sessions we got to go into the London Town cnter and check out a few famous spots.

I was undecided about heading home though, with the 2011 Green Race on! But eventually I pulled the pin on that and headed for NZ for the summer. Now it's back to the Kaituna to begin some real training! Stay tuned!
