Si Davidsons memorial paddle - the whole Okere Falls crew out The 2011/2012 summer is coming. With December quickly approaching the Okere Falls community is getting into the summer games! The river toys are coming out - and this year it looks like S.U.P boards are going to be the new thing.
Jamie Sutton rocked the first descent of Okere Falls on his board last week. I've just picked my one up thanks to Pau Hana Surf Supply and The Blue Group. (the NZ importer).
It's definitely a totally new feeling having no control on the Kaituna River - it is like we are learning from scratch again!!

Rotorua's Jamie Sutton banging out the First D of Okere Falls on SUP.
Orca NZ have also come to the party helping kit me out for the summer months of hours and hours of arduous, hard and long sessions in preparations the next season. They're making an awesome range of compression gear, merino under garments, fitness gear, and so much more. Check out their full range here

The Waiariki Academy of Sport camp in Ohope went off last week. A huge storm thrashed the east coast of NZ, keeping us happy with some solid wind blown swell, perfect for surfing in a slalom kayak. Thi provided a break from the running and hard sessions we were doing.. Follow the WAOS on FB here for up to date news and information on what the academy athletes are doing.

I've been home for almost 1 month - and enjoying fitting back into the life by the Kaituna! River runs BBQ's and laps of the slalom course are the call most days! But the next few weeks is going to be epic. I'll be heading down to Tekapo to help coach the South Island crew on the artificial course put together a few years ago. So check back for pic's and updates from that + the next Kaituna Sessions video coming soon!!
